Lincoln Project To Counter Program Trump’s Fascist Rally At MSG
October 25, 2024 —While Trump recreates the infamous 1939 Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden in NYC, the Lincoln Project will push back with a town hall with a distinguished panel of authoritarianism experts and on-the-ground action.
On the ground, the Lincoln Project will have billboard trucks circling the event. One truck will troll the “dads, Brads, and Chads” with Taylor Swift music that supports inclusion, women, girl power, and the LGBTQ+ community. LP hopes to convert some supporters, or at the least, drive them crazy with our favorite badass human rights rockstar.
The other will show a selection of ads reminding people of the serious danger facing America if Trump is reelected. These ads— Near Miss, It Can’t Happen Here, Bloodlines, and Never Again—draw a direct line between Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric and the dangerous rhetoric of other infamous dictators throughout history.
Trucks start at 2 pm.
Online LP is hosting counter programming by way of a virtual town hall: “A Night at the Garden: Trump’s Fascist Final Message”. The distinguished group of speakers include:
-
Stuart Stevens, Lincoln Project Senior Advisor
-
Dr. Jennifer Mercieca, Prof. of Communication & Journalism at Texas A&M University
-
Ruth Ben-Ghiat, Prof. of History at New York University
-
Dr. Deborah Cohen, Dir. of the Northwestern University Buffett Institute for Global Affairs
-
Dr. Peter Simi, Prof. of Sociology at Chapman University
The town hall begins at 7 PM and can be watched online here.
