July 15, 2022 — As Texans swelter under the intense summer heat, in a new ad The Lincoln Project calls out Greg Abbott for his startlingly incompetent management of the Texas energy grid.

You can watch the digital video here. It will be geofenced around the Governor’s mansion.

After people froze to death when the energy grid failed last winter, Abbott assured the state this summer’s heat wouldn’t be a problem. But instead of fixing the energy grid, he focused on his reelection campaign and keeping his own political power.

Now, the residents are stuck with higher costs and a failing power grid that’s seeing blackouts, while the Electric Reliability Council of Texas takes emergency action to stop the whole grid from imploding.

“It’s time for Abbot to learn his career is out of juice,” said Reed Galen, co-founder of the Lincoln Project. “Abbott’s more concerned with keeping power than actually doing things. He boasted to anyone who would listen that he would fix the power grid, close the border, and protect kids at school. He’s done none of those things. It’s for voters to throw him out of office.”

The Lincoln Project is a leading pro-democracy organization in the United States — dedicated to the preservation, protection, and defense of democracy.
