After four hearings, Judge J. Michael Luttig’s statement that “Donald Trump and his allies and supporters are a clear and present danger to American democracy” rings louder than ever. Trump was involved at every stage to overthrow the election, intimidate election officials and drive the mob to the Capitol. Judge Luttig’s warning should send a shiver up the spine of every American who cares about democracy and the rule of law.

Today’s hearing was extraordinary. We learned that the only reason Trump was unsuccessful in his attempts to overthrow was because individuals like Ms. Wandrea “Shaye” Moss and her mother, Ms. Ruby Freeman, lived up to the tradition of ordinary Americans standing up to do the right thing. The GOP is now working diligently to ensure that individuals like Ms. Moss are replaced by MAGA supporters who will take whatever measures are necessary to obtain power – even illegitimately.

Trump and his cronies put in motion a campaign to pressure every level of government to overturn the election that persists to this day. The MAGA GOP is teaching its supporters how to challenge election results in critical precincts, or just flat out refusing to certify election results they do not like. The party only wants nothing more than to roll-back civil liberties and make a free and open election impossible going forward.

There was a relentless effort to pressure election officials that went well beyond peaceful protests. Threats of violence combined with openly displayed weapons and the targeting of spouses and children were all used by Donald Trump and his supporters. These are not the nonviolent tactics of the civil rights movement, but a precursor to the types of violence we all witnessed on January 6th.
- Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis never had a case for election fraud, it was a scam from the start. They had no evidence, only conjecture and hearsay that they employed in an attempt to smear election officials in order to sow disinformation and doubt on the integrity of the process. All to provide a fake legal cover for their scheme to steal the election with false electors and an insurrection at the capitol.

The American public is getting the message about Trump and his attorney’s criminal behavior as they tried to overthrow the 2020 election. Nearly 60% of Americans now want to see Donald Trump charged with crimes, and that is up from 52% prior to the hearings.

Elise Stefanik and Kevin McCarthy both want to be Speaker of the House, and both have been silent on the 2020 election now that the Committee’s investigation is becoming public. Which one of them is power hungry enough in their race to win Trump’s support for the job that they will stand with him in supporting the “Big Lie”?

Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Tom Cotton, and Mike Pompeo all want to be President. For how much longer can they ignore the criminal revelations coming from the hearings. Will they double-down and continue to pin their political futures on a movement driven by criminal conspiracy or will they finally use this as an opportunity to break-up with Trump?

There are no more reasonable Republicans; the lunatic fringe is in control. The MAGA GOP will double and triple down on the “Big Lie” so they do not risk their base leaving them. They need outrage in order to secure power for themselves. And they do not care what that outrage is about.

After four hearings we know for certain the nation is at one of the most dangerous moments in its history. These revelations will not change the true MAGA believers mind but will cause them to double and triple down on the Big Lie – making them more dangerous and perhaps more violent. Every single American needs to decide if they are the side of the seditionists who tried to tear down a free and fair election, or do they support our Republic and its democratic principles?
