THE LINCOLN PROJECT DRIVES WEDGE BETWEEN TRUMP AND DESANTIS
JANUARY 24, 2022 – Last week, The Lincoln Project re-aired its ad “Sad!” in Palm Beach and Tallahassee to stoke a growing MAGA-on-MAGA political fight; the increasingly hot war between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump. “Sad!” sent a clear message to the former president: Governor DeSantis thinks he can take the MAGA base away from its founder, and Fox News thinks so too.
The ad was first released in September of 2021 to divide the MAGA movement’s two most prominent leaders. Since then, press reports have profiled Trump’s growing disgust with DeSantis. Most recently, Trump referred to the Governor as “gutless.” Now, DeSantis has taken his fight with Trump public, saying supporting Trump is 2024 is “Too much to ask.”
Following the re-release of our ad, Florida—and America— took notice.
