The Lincoln Project Tells North Carolina: Ted Budd’s Been In Washington Too Long
November 2, 2022 — In a recent ad, The Lincoln Project called out Ted Budd for being a typical Washington politician who places his own priorities above the families of North Carolina.
Budd refused the opportunity to lower gas prices when he voted against a bill to stop price gouging the day after he took contributions from big oil. In another act of hypocrisy, Budd voted against giving North Carolina small businesses pandemic relief, but that didn’t stop his family business from taking millions of dollars. And to top it off, he voted against giving police more funding.
You can watch the ad here. The ad ran statewide in October. It targeted Trump/Biden crossover voters, pro-choice women 18-35 who live in homes getting their information from the right-wing media bubble, and fathers of college age daughters.
“Budd thinks he deserves a promotion for just being in Washington so long, despite his hypocrisy and selfishness,” said Reed Galen, co-founder of the Lincoln Project. “Budd doesn’t care about North Carolina families, only whether or not he gets to stay in office and enjoy the comforts of being a Senator. He’s a hypocrite who’s spent enough time in DC. It’s time for the voters of North Carolina to send him home.”
The Lincoln Project is a leading pro-democracy organization in the United States — dedicated to the preservation, protection, and defense of democracy.
