It’s time for wealthy corporations to show who they support with action, not just words.

January 16, 2021—As the radical-right tries to justify the treasonous actions of the insurrectionists who stormed the capitol on January 6th at the encouragement of President Trump, enabled by the far-right media, and several disgraceful members of Congress, The Lincoln Project today released an ad calling out the “Jim Crow Caucus” for the racists they are and asking corporations who support them to decide which side they want to be on.

“American history is rife with openly racist elected officials seeking to oppress and disenfranchise Black American voters,” said Nate Nesbitt, national press secretary for The Lincoln Project. “While they have abandoned the white hoods of the Klan, these politicians are of the same ilk. They are morally bereft, contemptible men who have chosen the lie of white supremacy over the truths of American democracy.”

Over the last week, FoxNews and other radicalized far-right propagandists have unsuccessfully tried to excuse the behavior of the treasonous insurrectionists in the Republican party by comparing their actions to the BLM movement over the summer. The insurrectionists were encouraged by Senators Cruz, Hawley, Johnson and Congressman McCarthy who supported President Trump’s attempt to steal the election by trying to throw out thousands of ballots from black voters.

“It’s time Americans hold these treasonous elected officials and the corporations and individuals who enable these cowardly men responsible,” said Nesbitt. “There is no unity or peace that can be achieved without accountability and justice.”

The Lincoln Project is a group of former Republicans who worked to defeat Donald J. Trump’s reelection and will continue to battle Trumpism in America.
