Lincoln Project Takeaways On The State Of The Union

March 7, 2024The Lincoln Project releases the following takeaways on President Biden’s State Of The Union:

  • In a powerful speech, President Biden explicitly laid out the stakes of this year’s election: on one side is democracy, international stability, and a roaring economy. On the other side is Trump and his MAGA cult who wants to destroy it all and rip away individual rights.

  • Biden embodied the best of America, showcasing the optimism that drives innovation and builds a better world for the next generation. President Biden understands the strength of America comes from its people. Trump and the MAGA GOP only have disdain for the citizenry and love only power. The contrast between the two candidates hasn’t been this stark since the Civil War.
  • Biden’s administration has created nearly 11 million jobs since 2021, the two strongest years of job growth in US history; Household net worth rose to the highest amount ever recorded in 2023; The S&P 500 hit a record high TODAY; Inflation is down and wages have outpaced inflation for a year;
  • A Biden second term will see the protection of individual liberties. Women will continue to make their own health care decisions–in contrast to the GOP who want to control every step families take in the decision whether or not to have children. Biden is respected by our allies around the world by fighting for democracy at home and around the globe. Putin wants nothing more than Trump to win so he can destroy Ukraine.
  • What you saw tonight was a leader Americans can be proud of. President Biden is the only candidate who still sees America as a land of possibility and freedom.
