Oscar Winning Directors’ New Short Films Tell Powerful Stories Of What’s At Stake In 2024 Election
October 15, 2024 —-Oscar Award Winner Marshall Curry delivers a powerful new short film called, ‘Insulin Princess’, that profiles Lacy McGee from Georgia as she navigates rationing and back alley purchases necessitated by sky-high insulin prices. Her harrowing journey finally came to an end when the Biden-Harris Administration delivered lower insulin prices.
The film is part of a short film series from The Lincoln Project in partnership with Democracy2025, that examines the emotional and physical toll that governmental policy can have on individuals and families.

The films are meant to reach voters by cutting through all of the usual political ads and commentary by offering an in-depth look at an issue and the people who have experienced it first-hand. The films will be targeted to independent voters in swing states.

Marshall Curry is an Academy Award winner who directed the incredible “A Night At The Garden” about the 1938 Nazi rally in Madison Square Garden. Marshal’s two films focus on health care. “Insulin Princess” profiles a Georgia woman whose life was changed with lower insulin prices. “Act Of Caring” talks to a North Carolina mother who would have lost her child without the ACA.
Academy Award winner Jessica Yu, a brilliant director who won an Academy Award at 27 for short documentary. Her film is called, “It Couldn’t Happen Here” and examines reproductive rights and how recent legislation has destroyed the hopes and dreams of women.
Lucian Read is an accomplished film maker who has filmed extensively in Iraq and Afghanistan. “Continue The Mission” is about the burn pit legislation that Biden-Harris finally pushed through to reality.
