Subject: “Dobbs Dads” Swing Towards Harris – GOP men terrified Dobbs starts the destruction of women’s rights
Vice President Kamala Harris is hosting prominent Republicans in Pennsylvania today because the campaign knows how important disaffected Republicans are to winning this race.
Specifically, the group we call “Dobbs Dads” could be the deciding factor for the Harris campaign. “Dobbs Dads” are men concerned about what the Dobbs decision means for their daughters and the women in their lives. Identified two years ago, LP has targeted them relentlessly in swing states.
The impact of this focus can be seen in the new Marist poll that came out yesterday. Harris is leading college educated white men 59% – 39%. The Marist poll highlights what we’ve known all along: this election is winnable for Harris if enough college educated men can be moved by Trump’s extremism.
The Lincoln Project has been aggressive from the start at identifying these voters as persuadable due to the fall of Roe v. Wade and the ensuing extremist abortion bans around the country. LP’s efforts take on two tracks: women speaking to their fathers and the men in their lives about their fears, and secondly, an appeal to men as protectors.
As to the first group, we have run emotional ads such as “Daisy” in which a daughter begs her father to choose her over Donald Trump as she is literally dying from a lack of health care. For the men as protector appeal, we have “State Lines,” where a father and his teenage daughter are pulled over and arrested while driving to another state to access reproductive care. The father is powerless to help his daughter.
These ads are running digitally in swing states and garner some of the best engagement stats of any ads the Lincoln Project has ever created. Read more about our efforts in The Guardian and Newsweek.
