Lincoln Project on Colorado Ballot Fraud and Arizona Arson Attack
October 24, 2024 —Today’s announcement by the Colorado Secretary Of State’s Office stating an attempt at vote fraud was prevented serves to illustrate the system is working and holding up against serious efforts of election interference.
But this – along with the burning of a ballot box in Arizona – are only the first attempts to deny voters their basic unalienable right to choose their own leaders.
Our nation does not face another January 6th attack on the Capitol, but rather a more dangerous and insidious threat: numerous J6-style events in swing states and counties across the nation.
All states must prepare now for the coming violence, attempts at fraud, and legal warfare whose goal is nothing less than to inject so much uncertainty and doubt into the process that it destabilizes our entire electoral system.
See our statement on the Arizona arson attack:
October 24, 2024 – The Lincoln Project released the following statement after a USPS collection box containing ballots was set ablaze in Maricopa County, Arizona.
“Sadly, this is probably only the beginning as Trump and his MAGA allies have already shown their willingness to provoke violence to disrupt voting and the counting of votes in order to win. Every Governor and Secretary of State needs to step up security and prepare for a probable coming onslaught of violence. They also need to prepare to push back against legal gamesmanship, like the Georgia State Board Of Elections was just stopped from pursuing.
“The right to vote is sacred, but Donald Trump and his supporters don’t respect the voice of the people, only that they win by any means necessary. Protecting the vote isn’t over on November 5th, but must continue all the way until the next President is sworn in.”
The Lincoln Project is a leading pro-democracy organization in the United States — dedicated to the preservation, protection, and defense of democracy.
