WASHINGTON, DC US, April 9, 2020 – Today, The Lincoln Project released a digital video, “Distracted,” depicting the Trump administration’s denial of any wrongdoing surrounding the slow response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The President has attributed the slow response to the “distraction” of the impeachment trial.

“The President’s dishonest, incompetent, and delusional press conferences have veered into disturbing territory. The President is aware he lacks the competency to deal with this crisis, though he refuses to hold himself accountable. Instead he’d rather place blame for his ineptitude on an irrelevant issue,” said Reed Galen, co-founder of The Lincoln Project.

“Distracted” refutes President Trump’s claim that he was distracted from coronavirus due to impeachment. The President went on multiple golf trips, held multiple campaign rallies, and consistently downplayed the seriousness of the virus all the while endangering the lives of vulnerable Americans.

As of today, COVID-19 has killed more than 14,800 Americans and more than 88,000 people worldwide — with those numbers rising at an alarming rate. Amidst the ongoing crisis President Trump has made false, dangerous claims, egregious threats, and hurled insults at countless individuals.

The Lincoln Project is working to defeat Donald Trump and those candidates and officials who have abandoned their constitutional oaths, regardless of party.
