March 9, 2021 – The Lincoln Project today released an ad calling out Republican Senators for silencing women by refusing to confirm President Biden’s nominees, Kristin Clarke and Vanita Gupta. The 60 second spot emphasizes the importance of representation for women, especially women of color, in leadership roles in our government.

“It is asinine that Republican Senators who just weeks ago were preaching unification are intentionally stalling the nominations of two impressive, qualified women to cabinet positions in President Biden’s administration,” said Fred Wellman, executive director of The Lincoln Project. “It is vital for young women to have leaders they can look up to. Representation matters.”

The ad, which can be viewed here, will run digitally beginning today and run on national cable beginning tomorrow.

The Lincoln Project is a group of former Republicans who worked to defeat Donald J. Trump and will continue to fight on behalf of American democracy.

There is no time for complacency.

There is no time for living room activism. Every day must be spent asking ourselves if we’re doing our part, if we’re doing enough to ensure that the grand idea called America continues.

Thank you for joining us in this fight.
